In a message dated 97-11-26 13:48:15 EST, you write:
<< If you have questions about something or a user's behavior bothers
you, send me mail directly. My address is 'lindsey@mallorn.com'.
I almost always reply and act on the messages in a discrete manner.

I think it is also appropriate to email the person who has offended or
displeased you directly. Then the rest of us don't need to hear about it.
And I think criticism is much better taken when it is delivered privately,
one on one, rather than in front of the whole list. When you challenge
someone publicly they dig their heels in--that's not how we get behavior
change, except perhaps in the military where you don't have a choice,
generally. That's what I have done on some other lists and believe me it is
the most effective way of all of getting through to someone. And you may
even find you like that person after all.
