Re: Wisteria

 Hi!
I have been reading the post on wisteria with great interest and wanted
to share my experience with you.
2 years ago I went to a sale at Wal Mart at the end of the planting
season- I bought 6 wisteria's at $1.50 eash. They were in 3 gallon pots.
Well, I then had my husband build me an arbor outside my side door
entrance of our home (the door we use the most) - then I planted 4
wisteria's - 1 at each post- and waited....the first year they grew short
vines- at least I could see the were not dead but not much more-- then in
the winter (I am in Louisiana so its very mild weather here) they started
shooting out over.... well- this is the next year and they have almost
completely covered the arbor which is 8 ft by 12 ft... and are still
going... they are beautiful...the first year they bloomed enough to see
the color not much else...this year they are stunning! I even have had
neighbors-and strangers come and tell us how beautiful it is.
I would like to incourage those who are deciding against them to
reconsider--- it is such a breathtaking site and smell when they are
blooming (mine are purple) and even now without the blooms the green
vines are very lovely. It happens that one end of the arbor is outside my
dining room window and it really makes a wonderful way to start and end a
day.
Just my thoughts!
Katie
