Depends on what cultivar of Hydrangea you are talking about. Mine is the
big white snowball variety 'Annabelle' which dies back to the ground in
winter here anyway. I could cut it down to the ground now, but I leave
the dried flowerheads on for the winter--just for something which
resembles a flower to look at! Then I cut it back to the ground in early
spring.

We had a bit of snow last night, too, but it's all melted now.
