Re: Hydrangea -Reply

I may have a longer growing season than many of
you out there, I live in a 6b/7 Pacific Northwest. I
have an ancient, huge, hydrangea in my lot (1911
housing developing) and I whack it back every
spring and it blooms from July on til the cold sets in
here, about Oct.

Never cut back hydrangea if you want it to bloom
next year. I pick up the
dead leaves and just leave stalks. Sometime I trim
a little to shape but I
never cut it way back unless it has gone completely
out of control or become
leggy. A little trimming every year is the best of
both worlds. Chris
