Laurie, a friend who employs Mexican migrant workers told me once that the
workers saw a gigantic cosmos she had grown (they seem to get very tall after
they have self-sown a few years) and said it reminded them of home. So I am
not surprised that cosmos did well for you in the Virgin Islands. Bet it
would come back readily from seed too. It might even become a nuisaance. I
have some over 6 feet tall. Unfortunately they don't have the root systems to
support this height and topple over.
