No doubt about it-the plant I saw on the tree bank in the middle of lawn
was Euphorbia marginata. It was strange being there all by itself- I
wonder how one plant got there and an annual, at that.
It's an interesting genus. I have other Euphorbias in my garden, a
cushion spurge (E. epithymoides) which is nice and behaves itself and
Cypress spurge (E.Cyparissias) which is moderately invasive. And of
course, the yearly gift of a Poinsettia (E. pulcherrima) which I finally
get sick of in February and deliberately put to death out in the cold.
