They look sort of like foam rubber. If they're native preying mantises, the
eggcases will be triangular at the ends, but one to two inches in length.
If they're Chinese preying mantises, egg cases are fairly oval in shape.
You cannot tell by looking at the egg case whether the critters have
hatched. Margaret L
