Wow - you guys are amazing! What wonderful suggestions and hints.
Thanks for the Wild Ones info - I'd forgotten about Laurie Otto - and
she lives in my general area, too!
Guess I'm going to have to till my lawn area in the spring (what a
shame, not). In the corner that I want to plant, I currently have a
tree that will be taken down, so having that stump ground may just be
the impetus I need to till.
Since this area is on an *open* corner of my lot (meaning my neighbors
can see quite well what I'm doing from 2 sides) I'm a little leery of
complaints. I'd normally shrug them off, but our house was neglected
for years before we bought it and the owner was cited numerous times for
noxious weeds, etc. Now I have lovely gardens all over and hope they
don't see this development as yet another downward spiral.
With that in mind, is there anyway I can delineated my prairie from the
lawn and other gardens gracefully? One side of this area will face the
street. I'm thinking a rustic partial fence, or shrubs, or some such
thing . . . Any interesting ideas?
