According to Hortus III, the differences are as follows:

T. delavayi - "achenes flattened, long-stalked, 3/8 inches long"

T. dipterocarpum - "Achenes sessile, flattened, 2-winged"  (no size mentioned)

It also notes that T. delavayi is "Commonly cultivated under the name 
of T. dipterocarpum, but that sp has slightly smaller flrs and 
broader, shorter anthers."
