I'm only a few miles from Burpees Fordhook farms and Headquarters. Their seed business is ongoing and is a seperate company.  When Ball  bought Burpee, they set up a hplding company called Burpee something and all Ball And Burpee companies were under that umbrella.  As It was written locally, they opened 4 super garden centers.......kinda like Smith & Hawkins.......and lost there a.....shirt.  The stores are closed and it is that sub that is gone.....not the mailorder seed.
