Hi Susan,
I'm in z5a and a few years ago, before I started gardening, we had a landscaper
do some landscaping for us along the front of the porch we had just added to the
front of the house. Since I wasn't gardening at the time I only know the more
common names, but the landscaping was done in December and everything is doing
just fine. What was planted is Rhodedendrons, Bird's Nest Spruces, Yuccas, and
Hostas. The only water they got was what Mother Nature provided.
The landscaper said he plants up until the ground is frozen. So, I wouldn't
think you should have any problems.
