RE: Allium on steriods

Donna,
If the spiky round globe is dried (it sure sounds like an Allium to me, my
garden is full of them - all nice and dried) they are great "everlastings".
The stem is hollow, shove a 3' bamboo stick up inside it to give it some
strength and then use it anywhere in your garden you like. I add mine to
containers to fill in spots where tired annuals or out of bloom perennials
are/have been. I have seen them spray painted, but I like mine the natural
buff color. They can be used with pumpkins gourds, Indian corn, etc for
nice fall arrangements too. The seeds will eventually drop, or collect them
for a plant society seed exchange.

Colin and all,

Close, but I don't think that is my plant. More of a total round globe,
many spikes from one center, with a flower on each end... if that makes
any sense! The seeds where at the center of each flower, two to four per
flower. Little black ones, not really in a pod so to speak.. just
there....If I remember ( HA HA) next year I will take a picture to post.

Not sure I am willing to wait the long times for seeds to become
something! By the time they get going, I will have forgotten what was
planted there. I am also thinking that throughout my garden, wondering
how many 'baby plants' I have pulled out in error or worse yet, mowed
over.... :(
