The vinca major is pretty hardy and for the last two year we have 
overwintered three different types under our tarps outside (covered the pots 
with 3 inches of straw and a brown plastic tarp- they act as evergreens but 
also put on a good flush of new stem growth from the base of the plants).  
They do well as houseplants too in a bright window but they do get long 
stems. I think you could even cut them back and over winter them in the 
fridge or a cold storage closet.
