Hi Cheryl, Soil below ground is warmer than soil in pots above ground during winter. Here in zone 5 Indiana, pots like yours need to be insulated. Wrapping in bubble wrap can help. Sinking the pot in the ground might work but what sort of drainage does your pot provide? I have potted perennials in the fall for 20 years now and huddled them in a group and thrown leaves over the top and covered the perimeter with insulation. I put the least hardy in the center of the group. Works pretty well. But it is so so lovely Potted it this time in a pot with other perennials which should be more hardy. Do I overwinter the pot buried in the hold bed or under a tree or should I nestle either on the covered porch with my terra cotta pot or against the house but still open the weather Thanks Cheryl (southern NH where we are supposed to be dumped on this winter PLEASE!) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE PERENNIALS --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE PERENNIALS
