Susan:
I run Gardens North, a seedhouse for hardy and rare perennials in N.
Gower, Ontario. I have been wanting to get Hepatica acutiloba, H.
transsilvanica, H. nobilis and H. americana into my catalogue for a
number of years. However, while they grow happily here and I have a
large colony of H. acutiloba, seed production is dicey, I think
largely due to our very unpredictable Springs.
Hepatica seed is one of the "ephemerals" and needs to be sown
collected & sown fresh. We already have a large variety of seed we
treat in this way- Asarums, Sanguinaria, Corydalis, Dicentras,
Aconitum, etc....I collect & send out the day of harvest moist packed.
I can try again for you & anyone else who is interested- or perhaps,
if the demand is not too onerous, commit myself to shipping a plant.
Please contact me personally if interested and we can discuss it more.
