I believe it is annual everywhere, as it is in my zone 8b, but produces
a lot of seed. It is very pretty and I get comments on it. It is a
late summer / fall bloomer, though, blooming for me now and for the
last month or so.
Lion's tail (Leonotis? can't recall) is perennial in my zone but I'm
unsure about yours. It is also a late summer / fall bloomer.
Then there are orange roses, daylilies, and bearded iris...
