Amaryllis





I hope this is the proper list to address a question about an amaryllis.
If not, would someone kindly let me know the correct forum?

A co-worker has a fondness for amaryllis.  She's read where the African
varieties have stronger stems.  Does anyone know any particular names
for any in this variety?  Perhaps a source or two?  Looking in the general
bulb catalogs isn't helping much.  If no one knows, does anyone know
of any that have strong/short stems?  She says the bane of the amaryllis
for her is its penchant for leaning or "bending" because of the heavy
blooms.
