Salvia elegans-pineapple sage
Dear Margaret:
Awhile back you wrote about Salvia elegans, pineapple sage. My
plant is now in bloom. What wonderful pineapple scented fragrance.
What's the length of bloom period?
While you can depend upon correct labels from herb sources such as
Nichols and Loggees, I have a plant from another source with a garden
center type label that reads, variegated pineapple sage, tender
perennial. The green with while variegation on the crinkled leaf is
nice but it can't be the same species as Salvia elegans.
I've looked in Betsy Clebsch's A Book of Salvias and several herb
books and can't find the plant.
Best, Vicki
