Show of hands (was late e-mail)

Ha, ha! I love the comments about how gorgeous we all look while
gardening! Most of the folks who pass by our garden who don't know us
think I'm the hired help - a few have even asked if I was available to
work in their gardens!

My hands look OK (not great) from about November to March. I find that
those rough soaps made with oatmeal or seaweed and vegetable oil work
the very best; the dirt really dissolves, and the soap isn't drying.
You can get them at health food stores.

I read somewhere years ago in an old etiquette book that if you pay a
call and happen to find the lady of the house involved in gardening (and
not presentable), the polite thing to do is to leave as quickly as
possible (with profuse apologies and eyes averted). Bring back the old
days!
