Planting bulbs

Hi Lynn, Don and all, Is there anything more lonesome looking than one Lily
standing there in bloom? By all means plant them in groups of at least 3.
As to naturalizing the Daffs. 10 years or ago I bought a couple hundred
mixed bulbs and tossed them (not gently) around in a large border. I
planted them where they fell unless there was one all alone in a large
space, (planting in drifts of one is not cool) then I tried to bunch them up
a bit. The result has been that over a period of years they have become
really nice sized clumps of different varieties in a pleasing random pattern
all up and down the bed. These are all early bloomers and are doing their
thing usually in February when we are so hungry for garden color. The
bouquets are a bonus :)
