Daylilies are great companions for daffs and tulips. Just be sure you plant
the daylilies in between the bulbs because they're impossible to dig and
divide later if daylilies are on top of them. Sow some larkspur seeds over
the bulb beds in late winter, or California and/or Shirley poppies, and you'll
have a good flower crop after the bulbs have stopped blooming. Just don't
plant things that will need a lot of watering in the summer--daffodils do not
appreciate lots of extra moisture during the summer when they're more or less
dormant--it encourages rot.
