A laudable undertaking, Duncan. I second much of what others
are suggesting, particularly paths/patios, herb gardens and containers
(all aspects).
You might consider a topic on planning & balancing garden areas with
other yard uses (entertaining, bbq'ing, children's play areas).
Garden plots for kids might be useful for some.
Screening or enhancing views/adjacent properties/privacy planting.
Storage (of equipment, bikes, pots, etc.)
Areas for the handicapped (wheelchairs, scented/tactile plantings for
the blind)
Nursery plots (for seedlings, testing new plants, seasonal replacements)
Supporting/attracting wildlife (birds, butterflies, bees)
Cutting garden; Annuals; Tropicals; Bulbs
