That is why I only use sun flower in my bird feeder. Sunflowers are very
distinctive when they break ground and it is quite nice getting a free one
once in a while. The other seed you can buy for bird feeder might send up who
knows what every where in your garden. I have enough free plants from
perennials reseeding. I have been using sunflowers for over 20 years in my
bird feeders. The bird feeders are in the same place. There has never been a
problem with the hulks. I just consider it mulch. The plants are definitely
