New Member/Winter Perennials
Hi. I have been reading the list for some weeks now and thought it was
about time I introduced myself.
My name is Valerie Mullett and I have a small garden in Barnsley, South
Yorkshire, England.
I grow as many perennials and grasses, plus the odd shrub and tree, as I can
in my tiny garden.
I garden organically and try to attract wildlife to the garden. ( However,
my two Jack Russell terriers will attack the hedgehogs when they come for
their evening meal of slugs, which are prolific.)
I grow quite a few of the evergreen perennials Marge and Kitt suggested to
Louise, plus Epimedium, Lavender, Bergenia, Anthemis and Kniphofia. (Some
Anthemis and Kniphofia are evergreen.)
I have been lucky enough to visit Beth Chatto's and Christopher Lloyd's
gardens - they are inspirational. Christopher Lloyd's books are well worth
reading: his sense of humour makes them a really enjoyable read as well as
being informative.
Can anyone suggest where I might find out about all your different weather
zones? It would really help to know about your temperatures and rainfall
etc when reading the list.
