Transplanting hellebore seedlings

Marge...

I have a number of hellebore seedlings (oriental hybrid) that germinated in
the ground last spring and now need to be divided up.  Would it be better
to do it this fall or wait until spring?  They are still quite small, about
1-2"  high.
