Auburn did some on nematode suppressive crops, including various varieties
of marigolds.
"Of all types of marigolds, French dwarf marigolds (Tagetes patula)
give the most consistent control of the great est number of damaging
nematodes species. (French dwarf marigolds knovm to suppress nematodes
are listed in Table 2.) Four other marigold species, including some
cultivars of the African (T erect) and South American (T minuta)
marigold, reduce numbers of root-knot nematode."

I don't know of any studies examining the insect repellant properties of
marigold foliage.
