Valerie:
The movie 'Rain Tree County' starred Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery
Clift. Part of it was filmed in Danville, Kentucky, I think it was in
the 50's.
There was a large, nice hotel in Danville that served a good Sunday lunch
to which the stars came regularly. It may have been the only place to
eat on a Sunday, those were different times. I was a kid but we were
driving through Danville one of those Sundays, stopped for lunch, and got
to see the stars.
I believe it was a book before it was made into a movie. They may have
named the book/movie after the tree but I don't believe either state
named a county after it. You could probably find a copy of the
book/movie to go with the tree.
