Re: Favorite Spring Perennials
Bob
I try to have something in bloom from spring to fall, however that's a
hard job. I consider spring to be from April to July, then it's turns
ugly from July on in my part of the country. Heat and humidity, and
drought attacks then.
My bloom time starts with Forsythia, daffodills, iris, siberian iris,
azelias, saucer magnolia, royal star magonlia, weigela, bleeding heart,
astilbe, carolina jasmine, gardenia, oak leaf hydrangea, (just added a
Kaleidoscope Hydranga to my collection) blue and white hydrangea,
snowball bush, roses, wild phlox, tall phlox, amaryllis, mini
amaryllis, spiderworts, daylilies, stella de ore, red hot pokers,
poppy, larkspurs, balloon flowers, columbine, foxglove, shasta daisy,
coreopsis, hibiscus, clametis, wisteria vine, dalhia, clome, zinna,
merigolds, angel trumpets, honeysuckle, dogwood trees, petunia's, calla
lilies, impatients, periwinkles, begonia, sweet potato vines, cosmos,
canna, (trying to get hollyhocks to live for me, "not much luck") lilac
bush, ginger, pink pampas grass, crepe myrtles, redbud trees, banana
trees, (right now I have pansy and mums in bloom) and I just aquired 6
crinums bulbs for my husbands grandparents old home built over 100 years
ago.
these are some of the plants that I have in my yard, some of them I
only have one and others I have oddles of them. I love all of them,
but if you asked what is my favorite I would have to say lilies and
poppies.
happy gardening
