We really seem to be very fortunate as there are many perennials in the
garden still giving us a lot of pleasure: Ferula communis; F. 'Giant
Bronze', Sedum, Oenothera, Echinacea (purple form), Verbena bonariensis
(absolutely fabulous), Fuschia 'Thalia', Gaura 'Siskiyou Pink', Potentilla
'Miss Willmott', Crocosmia masoniorum (new this year and still flowering
profusely), Diascia 'Lady Valerie' (bought as a tender patio plant 2 years
ago), Lobelia cardinalis 'Queen Victoria' (flowers virtually gone, but still
has lovely ruby red stems and leaves); Macleaya, Eupatorium purpureum
(lovely heads at present - some deep magenta/brown, others fluffy and
beige); Catananche caerulea 'Major' (lovely silver, pointed heads), Dahlia
(Lady Diana - beautiful apricot colour), D. Bishop of Llandaff, and
brilliant orange Cannas.
Valerie, South Yorkshire, England.
