Overwintering waterplants

Hi,
I made up a container water garden this year with a dwarf waterlily, miniature cattail,  a bog bean, some tender water lettuce and anacharis.  I also have some snails, freshwater clams and 2 small goldfish.  Overall it was a great success as it was its own ecosystem required very little care.  The problem is that I live in Western Massachusetts and it will freeze solid overwinter so I need to drain it for the winter.  I already brought the tender stuff  to try and overwinter under lights.  I need to know if anybody has any ideas for overwintering the hardy plants so that they get their dormancy and survive the winter? (these are hardy plants so I consider them appropriate for this list.
