Alas, I must disappoint you. I have no idea where this tree gets its
common name. I can only assume that the name comes from the tree's
native China where they have all sorts of heavenly-named things. A Web
search would probably provide the information.
I've read in forestry reports that this tree produces a natural
herbicide, but haven't heard of it used commercially for this purpose.
