Kris,
The botanical name is Begonia grandis, though at one time there was a
different name given to the species.
I have white and pink hardy begonias and they thrive in a rather dry shady
bed under an oak. They have survived 5 winters with temps down to -10 F or
-23 C. They have not spread much in the drier soil conditions. I have a few
that escaped in the greenhouse and they have taken over under some of the
benches.
There are some name varieties which Plants Delight introduced a few years
back.
