Bill,
Since I also have a few daylillies I did an internet search.
The rust apparently came into the US on imported daylillies.
It appears that patrinia may be an alternate host for the full life cycle of the rust but no infection has been detected so far on Patrinia in the US.
The other alternate is Hosta spp.and there is one document indicating this rust may be the same as hosta rust.
Here are the links I found:
http://doacs.state.fl.us/~pi/enpp/pathology/daylily-rust.html (updated 6/2001)
http://www.aphis.usda.gov/npb/daylily.html (updated 9/2001)
Maybe I don't want to have more Patrinia after all :-(

I also recently read that Patrinia is a suspected host of daylily rust. I've also had trouble keeping Patrinia here in Cincinnati.--------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@mallorn.com with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE PERENNIALS
