raised beds

<Try a raised bed somwhere behind the garage or if no other place in the rear
of a bed. You can keep it for new arrivals, seedlings, tryouts, etc. It does
not need to be large, only what you can find space for and the soil can be a
mix that is high humus. We put all new stuff in the veg beds which started as
three raised beds and is now five. This is, hands down, the best growing
place in the garden>

I'd have to agree. I made a small raised bed - actually behind the garage!
with stuff out of my compost pile and bags of different stuff. First put down
wet newspapers & then filled with the dirt mix. My snap peas do great there,
and now I have some robust basil and a huge rosemary. I also grew the first
good carrots I ever grew, in that bed. Anything that needs loose, well drained
soil.
