RE: Warning: Wildflower seeds in a can

Hi Cindy,
Wondering were you got that information from.... I belong to the Wild
Ones, have for a few years now. Interesting that our chapter is not
listed there, nor have I seen that post on any of the different wild
ones sponsored list groups I am on....due to some volunteer work,
thought I was on all of them.

The national group is very technical, but it is up to each chapter as to
the presentations and depth of knowledge of their members. IMHO. The
chapter I belong to is associated with a nature center, so some of us
where already familiar with native plants. We have tried to educate the
members as well as anyone interested in coming to our meetings. This
month we tried to get the public to come... so our guest speaker was
Carolyn Ulrich, editor of Chicagoland Gardening Magazine. She presented
a slide show and speech about native and perennial plants in her home
garden. (She is well known in this area and also a wild one member from
a northern IL chapter) Previously we have had DNR spokesman, water and
land management teams, as well as next months hayride thru the Oak Ridge
Prairie with a hot dog campfire to boot.... we attempt to keep things
interesting for both the knowledgeable, as well as the newly introduced
gardener to native plants. We also have a plant sale every spring, most
of which is seed collected by us, and grown by us at the greenhouse.
Which is more than you all wanted to know!

And so Chris is not totally upset with me... he does sponsor a list just
for native plant restoration..... not as active as this list, but many
fine knowledgeable members.... prairie@hort.net... Think you need to
sign up at this spot first tho...
