Frank, I don't see how it could be worse than Hoya!!! Also some species of
Begonia. I lost the war to Mealy Bugs years ago....this dabbing with
rubbing alcohol is for folks with absolutely nothing else to do with their
time. Marathon takes care of the Mealies and other sucking insects in the
GH quite nicely. And without spraying - a real bonus. Yes I noticed
already how easy it is to break off a nice big leaf making a once
symmetrical plant asymmetrical. :(

If there are any mealy bugs in the area they will make your Echeveria their
home base. Most echeverias that are sold have mealy bugs because they are
usually grown outdoors in warm climates where mealy bugs are everywhere.
They become serious problem when they are grown inside and their peak
breeding season is Nov-Jan. Echeveria is the favorite plant. Because of
the overlaping leaves they have good shelter and are difficult to deal with
because the leaves break off easily.
