We've been getting rain since yesterday morning, pretty steadily, yet never
too hard. This is the soaking we've needed all summer. But to put things in
perspective, one of our daffodil friends in Texas recently emailed to the
Daffnet (a group like this just for daffodil growers) a photo of his field.
Cracks in the soil were inches wide! You could see whole clumps of daffodils
down in the cracks. He said he was going to start planting his new daffodils
and thought he'd just drop a bulb down into a crack and fill it up with sand.
It's the old adage, isn't it? Whenever you've got it bad, somebody somewhere
has it worse.
