RE: tricyrtis

Gene, the large purple spots are on the flowers, not the leaves.  The leaves
are dark green but have a sort of purple blush to them.  Does this help with
possible ID?  Yes, something with gold foliage would be very nice.....either
a small gold Hosta or maybe the Corydalis with gold leaves.  I haven't seen
the Tricyrtis with gold leaves.

    I have Begonia grandis as well. My combination is with a gold foliage
tricyrtis, Cimicifuga acerina, tall ferns, rocky ledge. Other plants in the
area are for foliage as they completed their bloom cycles earlier in the
year.
    If you do come up a positive ID on your new tricyrtis I would like to
know the name as well. I can follow you up to the point where you describe
the dark foliage with large purple spots. Sounds nice.....
    We had a cloudy day with drizzle all morning. By afternoon we were
beginning to get a bit of real rain. By mid-afternoon it was steady. Come
evening we were getting a hard rain that has lasted all night and is still
going. Supposedly until around noon today. That should certainly give
everything a good soaking. The gods finally took pity on us here locally.
Now if we don't float away........
