Re: Sedum & Epimedium

    I have been adding Epimediums to my garden from the beginning of
gardening. That goes back about 12 to 15 years now. Most of what I have is
the "oldies, but goodies". No complaints about any of them, not matter their
status in the catalogs. Old, or new to the scene, it is either a good
looking and performing plant or it is not. Price won't make it any better.
    Speaking of... I kind of draw the line price wise when purchasing my
epimediums. Will go up to around $12 to 15, but have not been able to bring
myself to pay $25 and up for a 4 inch pot as yet.
    I do find that while epimediums will do ok in shade and root
competition, give it more light and decent soil and you definitely get a
better performing plant. They will take close to full sun if they can get
the moisture. Actually, one of the reasons they are so popular is their
adaptability and ability to take abuse and still keep on performing. So many
quality features with epimediums.....
