Hi Patty
I have never rooted azaleas but I looked it up in Wyman's Gardening
Encyclopedia and this is what they say-evergreen, broadleaf species root
easily if cuttings are taken any time after the new growth shows
firmness. In the Boston area suitable timing would be from July until
midwinter. Deciduous azaleas propagate well from softwood cuttings taken
early in the growing season. Evergreen azaleas can be rooted throughout
the summer.
