Liane, if you are in an ecological zone that has been invaded by purple
loosestrife, I strongly recommend you destroy your plants.  Even if you are
able to control the spread of the plant in your own garden, you will almost
definitely be contributing to the invasion of the plant in your area (through
the spread of seeds).  It is a beautiful plant, but not one I believe in
conscience should be tolerated in a garden.  Enjoy it in the country when you
drive by a field of purple blooms in July / August.
