"Foxy" digitalis need to started early since they require about 5 months to bloom. I have had them winter-over and bloom for another spring and then die. I find the major difference in the size of the flower stalk and earlieness to bloom when comparing them to the other digitalis. Since the bloom the first season their requirements for vernalization must not be as great. BTW has anyone tried the variety "Apricot" or "Alba".
