lobelias

Hi everyone,
I've been watching the lobelia postings with great interest because
I have discovered that I have one!! It is one of my mystery plants
which have been puzzling me since last spring.(not the mystery
geraniums). It started out as a wee little thing and didn't get much
more than 6 inches tall by the end of June. Then it must have gotten
a dose of the steroids someone mentioned this year because at this
moment it is nearly five feet tall and covered with buds. I have no
idea what variety it is or what color the flowers are going to be. It
really is nifty because in spite of its height, the stem is so sturdy
that it doesn't need staking. Yes, did I mention I only have one
solitary stem but I'm sure it will make up for it by being glorious
when the buds open.
When I did my search and found out what it was, I also learned that
lobelias don't winter over very well. I'm in zone five..what do you
think. Can I look forward to it next year or is it going to be history?
Jeanne
