So... Are there any dwarf goldenrod cultivators that are sterile? I
really like the way that they brighten up a flowerbed in late summer
and fall, but the maintenance issues far outweigh aesthetic qualities
right now. Who has suggestions?

Well this is a clasic reason to dead head a plant after blooming.
Golden rods are prolific seed producers and the seed can travil a good
distance too.
Beautiful plants but nothing is perfect.
