Sorry about that - I mistyped. The soil temperature should be 50F, not 40F. And
I need to chill the bulbs for 6-8 weeks before planting. (This is not true for
species tulips which do beautifully here, coming back each spring).
If you'd like to doublecheck me, there are a number of books written just for
Texas gardening. Probably the best known (but not my favorite) is 'Neil Sperry's
Complete Guide to Texas Gardening'. Or you can call the Dallas Arboretum and ask
when they'll be planting the 10,000 tulip bulbs this fall.
