Marge, I'm not Zone 7, but Zone 6a has long periods of hot, humid nights too.
And July and August were records, and we are in the middle of serious
drought too. My 'Variegata' is still cooking along. It is on the edge of a
sandy bed in mostly shade and has received no supplemental watering this
summer. It is a little burnt-looking, but it's still cooking along.
Go for it! Actually, I think it's worth it even if you only have it for one
season, although this is my second season for it and it has increased well.
