mint

I loved hearing about the mint problems/solutions. I've found mint to be a
funny 8) plant.

I have several varieties in my herb garden: spearmint, apple, chocolate,
lemon, pineapple...and every one of them seems to have distinct habits. The
bottomless pot technique has worked well for everything except the apple
mint. It comes up everywhere, including in the pots holding some of the
other mints! It's a challenge to keep up with it. The pineapple mint, on
the other hand, keeps dying. The last pot I planted only lasted about a
month; now all that's in that pot is apple mint (again). But, for all its
faults, I love the smell of it as I pull it out of my other plants. And if
it gets away from me and hangs over the raised bed into the lawn, it smells
lovely as it's being mowed down.

Don't really know the point of all this, except to share my experience and
marvel at the different personalities of a single plant type...
