Hi, Tom -
Thanks for the advice. Do you garden in the midwest too? Do you encounter
the white flies often and on lots of different types of plants? Wouldn't the
jelly also
nab the good guys? Left on their own, will they do damage and tend to also
return
next year? Is it the dry summer that causes this infestation...the plants are
doing well and don't seem stressed at all. Does anyone else have any
experience with these pests or home remedies?
I've rarely encountered these fellas except on indoor plants, but we get all
colors of aphids. I planted Heliopsis 'Greenheart' last year and the red ones
adore them. The H. is now history (not so much due to the aphids as the color
took over the garden visually). The aphids also adored the Asclepias 'Ice
Ballet' and watering only helped for a day or two. This plant did not do well
for me as I couldn't seem to
remember to keep it damp enough but the A. 'Hello Yellow' has never had any
problems.
Can anyone help me identify a caterpiller on my Buddleia 'Nanho Blue' - it's
largish, red-brown on each end and black in the middle and the hairs are long
like a Monarch.
Thanks for the help.
Joanie
