I had a bad case of whiteflies in a small iris patch early this summer.
Spraying and the like didn't do the job, so I cut the blades back nearly to
the ground and sprayed stube and ground thoroughly with an insecticide
spray (I forget now which one). I figured if the iris didn't make it, I
could do something else with the space. Sure 'nuff, the iris came back but
the whiteflies didn't.
