Betty-
I've gotten in on this discussion at the tale end so I apologize if what I
say is a "repeat."
I've got something called a "potato vine." It has large leaves and grows up
my oak in the front yard. They do have small blooms that are hidden by the
large leaves and they produce small "potatoes" along the vine. They can be a
bit weedy if you allow them to but I usually remove the vine before frost and
collect the "potatoes" to prevent them from becoming too many.
I've got a close up pic of the leaves if you would like to see if this is
what you know as the "potato vine"....I have no idea what the botanical name
could be.

I hope this helps with the mystery of the Potato Vine
